A12C.com Awards The Filmfare Awards ceremony is one of the most prominent film events given for Hindi films in India.[75] The Indian screen magazine Filmfare started the first Filmfare Awards in 1954, and awards were given to the best films of 1953. The ceremony was referred to as the Clare Awards after the magazine's editor. Modelled after the poll-based merit format of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, individuals may submit their votes in separate categories. A dual voting system was developed in 1956.[76] Like the Oscars, the Filmfare awards are frequently accused of bias towards commercial success rather than artistic merit. As the Filmfare, the National Film Awards were introduced in 1954. Since 1973, the Indian government has sponsored the National Film Awards, awarded by the government run Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF). The DFF screens not only Bollywood films, but films from all the other regional movie industries and independent/art films. Thes! e awards are handed out at an annual ceremony presided over by the President of India. Under this system, in contrast to the National Film Awards, which are decided by a panel appointed by Indian Government, the Filmfare Awards are voted for by both the public and a committee of experts.[77] Additional ceremonies held within India are: * Screen Awards * Stardust Awards Ceremonies held overseas are: * Bollywood Movie Awards - Long Island, New York, United States * Global Indian Film Awards - (different ...

No panic for Dublin just yet -- Michael Darragh Macauley

No panic for Dublin just yet -- Michael Darragh Macauley Reigning All Ireland Senior Football champions Dublin will not be hitting the panic button just yet, despite defeats in two of their opening four games in this season's competition. That's the strong message from Michael Darragh Macauley, selected at midfield for this weekend's clash with Donegal in one of four changes to the Dubs starting 15 made by Pat Gilroy. Philly McMahon returns from suspension in place of James McCarthy, with Cian O'Sullivan coming for Darren Daly in the back line. Kevin Nolan gets the nod at wing back with Macauley and Eamonn Fennell continuing in midfield. Tomás Quinn starts ahead of Paul Brogan at corner-forward. Dublin made the Division 1 League final last year and while they came up short to Cork on the day, they bagged a bigger prize in September, and Macauley believes the right groundwork is going into trying to mount a successful defence of the Sam Maguire. "Training-wise, everything is! coming along to plan", says the Ballyboden St. Enda's clubman. "You want to get a good platform in the League and get a couple of victories." "You have to have lads coming into the panel and pushing for their places, which is a huge aspect of what we do. We have a really strong panel, 30-35 players coming in and we have very intense training games." "It was one of the secrets to our success last year", insists Macauley. This weekend the Dubs will be looking to build some spring momentum starting with ...
